Credit where credit is due: Wine Award.

The Emm. Delicata 2009 Syrah Gran Cavalier.
One of the premium red wines that we have reviewed and rated in "A Taste Of Malta:The Premium Reds" and which is also listed in the Reno Spiteri's Wineopolis Winelist, has recently been awarded a Silver Medal at the presitgious international wine competition - Vinalies Internationales - held in Paris during the month of February, 2011. This wine is the Emm. Delicata flagship premium red wine, the 2009 GRAN CAVALIER late harvest barrel-matured SYRAH DOK SUPERIOR MALTA. This wine was awarded RS91 points in our ratings which is commensurate with this award for this excellent Syrah.

This silver winning Gran Cavalier is made from 100% late-picked Syrah grapes, grown, cultivated and harvested in Malta from the 2009 harvest. After normal fermentation and malolactic fermentation, the wine was then softened and matured for ten months in 225-litre Freench oak barrels stored and cared for in the Winemaker's cellars prior to bottling and release.

We normally review and rate the wines that we feature in the topics published in relation to a benchmark wine which would itself has gone through the international rating and review mill, and with which we, ourselves, on the review, taste-testing and analyses, rating team would have been satisfied and rated as an excellent premium or ultrapremium wine. Our benchmark wine for the Syrah variety wines is the McLAREN VALE SHIRAZ 2004 produced by (yellow tail) by Casella Wines. This wine is a Gold Label, Limited Edition, exceptional, premium Shiraz which has been awarded the GOLD MEDAL at the Syrah Du Monde 2007 Awards in Paris as well as the Gold  Medal at the Royal Old Wine Show 2005 in Australia.. This wine has been awarded RS93 points by the WINE:RENO SPITERI'S WINEOPOLIS review and rating team.
